E-SPFdigit officially launched:
Emergent soil, plant and food onsite digital services on
chemical and biological contaminants

E-SPFDigit project kicked off in Thessaloniki on October 8-9, 2024, hosted by Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH). The 18-partner consortium gathered to discuss the shared vision of transforming on-site digital tools for safer, more sustainable food production—from vineyards and vegetable farms to post-harvest processes.

With a systemic approach and integrated piloting at the heart of the project, E-SPFdigit aims to revolutionize monitoring and decision-making in agriculture. The AI-driven tools will enhance real-time detection of contaminants such as PFAS, pesticides, and heavy metals, improving environmental sustainability and food safety across the entire production chain.

The project consortium is composed by the following institutions:

As E-SPFdigit embarks on this journey, we are committed to leveraging cutting-edge digital innovation for a more sustainable and secure future for global agriculture.

E-SPFdigit has received funding from Horizon Europe under grant agreement No. 101157922 (HORIZON-MISS-2023-SOIL-01-03 – Onsite digital technologies to monitor nutrients and chemical or biological stressors in soil and plants with relevance for food safety and nutrition)
