European Mission Soil Week Cluster Event at
the European Committee of the Regions.
On November 14th, 2024, E-SPFdigit participated in the European Mission Soil Week Cluster Event at the European Committee of the Regions. Opened by Marc Tachelet (European Research Executive Agency (REA), with remarks from Luis Sánchez Álvarez (DG AGRI) and Maria Jose Amaral (REA), the event provided a valuable platform for collaboration and knowledge exchange.
E-SPFdigit focused on two key sessions: the Cluster on Communication and Stakeholder Engagement, led by Fabio Volkmann (Soil Health Benchmarks), and the 2nd Session on Data and Knowledge Management, facilitated by Fenny van Egmond (SoilWise Project). These sessions offered insights and opportunities for collaboration with peers from other projects.

Within the Communication Cluster, E-SPFdigit attended two thematic sessions: Communicating Complex Scientific Messages and Social Media Strategies. In the former, the project was featured as a case study, sparking discussions on simplifying scientific content for specific audiences, particularly farmers and policymakers. In the latter, participants collaborated on an action plan to enhance outreach and foster collaboration, with proposals for capacity building and training to strengthen project teams.
In the Data and Knowledge Management session, the SoilWise Project presented a tool for data harmonization and delved into the concept of FAIR data. Discussions included challenges in developing user-friendly repositories and suggestions for creating data categories, infographics, and pre-insertion design guidelines to enhance data management.
E-SPFdigit also met with WHEATWATCHER to start exploring joint communication campaigns and events, reinforcing collaboration.
